The deployment of about 100 police officers to halt water splashing on Khao san road early yesterday almost led to violence as drunk teenagers resisted.
Pol Maj Ekkachai Chaicharoen, Chana Songkhram police station's inspector for suppression, said 100 police officers was sent to Khao San road before midnight on Thursday to tell teenagers, mostly Thais, to stop spalsching water to allow the city's Public Cleansing Departement to clean the street for the first workin day after the Sonkran Festival.
Some drunk teenagers refused to stop, shouted and threw things at police and also told friends to oppose police.
It took almost an hour for the police to convince the teenagers to end their Sonkran celebrations. There was no use of violence and no one was arrested on
the incident.
