Hua Hin 2002 - The Beach

The Beach
- a wonderful 5 miles strech of fine white sand, with a constant breeze from the south. ( Main problem: It's hard to turn the page of your newspaper - New favorite: The Nation).
On the port side (between Sofitel and the Hilton) the beach is almost completely covered with parasols (150 % Thai style). Where is shade therer are Thais, there is plenty of food and booze and babies and sanook.
For recreation (hangover clinic!) here you find the right measures. From Thai massages till manicure and pedicure (YES MEN, DO IT. Do you know that women dating males look first on the hands?! - ok. maybe not in Thailand) Therefore that I recommend NO.18. sipphaet nickname LEK means (small). She's doing it very good for 250 bees a treat.
When entering the sea on this part of the beach, watch out for the rocks, which can cause some painful hurt when stepping on. (Thais love to sit on rocks)

On starboard side you look down the open beach prominently frequented by farang working on their skin cancer.
(just a question: Why it's mostly the not-so-beautiful-anymore who have the desire to expose their naked body to the sun?) Here you find has a good surf and no rocks.
When you stroll down the beach you find a few bars ( have parasols) serving everything you need.
GHO GHO beach barabout half a mile down, offers a splendid overview on the scene, and was the most appealing one for my taste: Friendly, good thai food, cool music, relaxed.
Another mile down you find TIM's bar ( former Chico's.) Also friendly, and specialised on farang tastes. And: NO CANNED MUSIC!
Where are farang on the beach, there are vendors to sell you everything you can imagine and somthing more. But they are generally cool. You don't have to be unfriendly to get rid of them. ( best method say: MAI MEE NOEN! says "have no money" in Thai. They will not believe you ,but they'll leave you with a smile).
Some offer real nice things though, and it can be fun to bargain, especially with the picturesc tibetan vendors selling their bangles and stuff.
All in all Hua Hin Beach is made for people who don't need to be entertained, just want to relax in style.
Hua Hin is a very good starting point for a trip to Soutern Thailand.
