MAXWELL BERLIN

2006 update: former owner Werner Toebben left for London, taking with him Damien Hirst's art, and the old spirit.
"Duck á la Damien Hirst" is not available anymore

It was beginning of May and I had been out of town for a while and I was hungry, but I wanted something excellent and original. I had heard a lot about the restaurant MAXWELL and I wanted to try the "Duck á la Damien Hirst". I was a little wondering, 'coz Damien is doing some pretty weird things from time to time, but I decided to hit MAXWELL for some extra ordinary food.
To my surprise I stepped into the preparation of some artist's party. Moritz Wolpert, Berlin based artist, designer and so on invited some friends to celebrate his latest invention, imprinted parquet. The MAXWELL staff pushed aside the tables on the ground floor, to make space for a band, and guess who was performing, my lost friend Desney. I first met her 20 years back in one of the many restrooms of the "Area" cub in NYC , and now she is a veritable jazz singer. So first I kicked back some Beck's at the bar and run into Mike , who went broke with a cocktail bar two years ago.
When he was on top of his success he didn't knew me anymore, so I took my cheap revenge and bought him a beer. Desney started to sing. The old Jazz classic "One day I will be famous and rich..."

Next I met was Plez, (the artist formerly known as "Honkong Plez"). Today he looks like a crossbreed of Walter Mathau and Robert de Niro in their younger days. He talked about his upcomming events, what I all forgot about, but here's the link to his website.
We switched to whisky, and my hunger was gone by now.

Suddenly, still kickin', ol' Bob Rutmann tipped me on my shoulders, prehistoric rock of the berlin underground scene.
I even spotted Ben Becker, former punk kid, and for years a world famous singer, movie,theater - star, at least here in Berlin, and one of the last established "enfant terrible" of Love City... anyway the party grew fast, and got wild, lots a chicks.., but I just remember that we had a lot of fun and we did many crazy things, mom, ahem... here are some fotos I am alowed to publish...

When you remember all details of last night's party, it was either dull or you weren't there.
